How do you save Gmail attachments to Google Drive automatically?
You connect Gmail with an app password, describe in one sentence which document you want filed, and pick the Drive folder. Findest checks the mailbox every five minutes, opens the attachment, decides whether it matches that description, and writes it out renamed as Invoice_Sender_Date.pdf. The mail stays unread.

What a Gmail filter can and cannot see
Gmail gives you filters, labels and a “Save to Drive” button, and between them they almost solve this. Filters act on the envelope — sender, subject, size, whether an attachment exists — and the button saves one file, to one folder, one click at a time. Neither of them opens the PDF.
So the filter can tell you a message has an attachment, but not whether that attachment is an invoice, a delivery note or a signed contract. The decision that matters happens after the download, which is exactly the step you were trying to remove.
The part that costs you is not the thirty seconds
Downloading an attachment, renaming it so you will recognise it later and dragging it into the right folder takes about half a minute. Forty attachments a month is twenty minutes — annoying, not expensive.
The expensive part arrives months later. Someone asks for a document from March, and the folder has it under download.pdf, or does not have it at all because that week was busy. You are not buying back twenty minutes a month; you are buying the guarantee that the folder is complete when it finally matters.
Describing the document instead of the sender
A rule is one sentence about what the document is. That is why it keeps working when a supplier switches billing software, changes their trading name, or hands the account to someone whose email you have never seen.
“Attachments from suppliers”
“Supplier” describes who sent it, not what arrived — the same sender emails you quotes, invoices and delivery notes.
“Supplier invoices for goods we bought. Not quotes, not delivery notes, not software subscriptions.”
Names the document, then names the three neighbours that would otherwise steal from it.
What lands in Drive
Three facts come out of the PDF — that it is an invoice, who issued it, and what date it carries — and the filename is rebuilt from them:

It is written to Accounting Invoices 2026 in the Drive account you connected. The original mail stays in your inbox, unread and untouched.
Findest connects to Gmail with an app password, not the “Sign in with Google” button. That means you need 2-Step Verification switched on first — without it Google does not even show the app-password page. It also means there is no Google review queue between you and a working connection.
Questions about Gmail and Google Drive
Does Findest mark my mail as read?
No. The mailbox is opened read-only, so a message Findest has processed still looks untouched in Gmail. That is a deliberate choice in the IMAP client, not a side effect — it uses EXAMINE rather than SELECT.
How fast does a file appear in Drive?
Findest checks the mailbox every five minutes, so a file is usually in Drive within five minutes of the mail arriving. It is not instant, and anything claiming otherwise about polling would be wrong.
Can I pick any folder in my Drive?
Yes — you choose it with Google's own file picker, so you see your real Drive tree, Shared Drives included, exactly as it looks in Drive itself.
